We believe in maintaining the AKC breed standard, not only physically but also in temperament.
The WPG is a gentle spirited dog with an even temperament that was developed for the on-foot hunter. Thus, both in the field and at the home they prefer to have their human companion(s) within their hearing and/or sight range.
They will excel as both a family companion and a hunting dog if they have regular access to the outdoors. They would be very unhappy living in an apartment setting or in an environment in which their outdoor time was always on a leash.
The WPG is an exceptional dog that as a result of their calm nature makes both a wonderful family companion and sporting dog.
All of our dogs reside in our home with us. They require little grooming and any shedding is very minimal. Bathing and occasional brushing will maintain their rugged playful appearance
